New tires - mrmach1 - 04-17-2015

I just purchased Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires for my car and they are being installed tomorrow. I've done a fair amount of research and read a lot of reviews and most were good. Does anybody have these or had these on they're car? I would love to hear some input on them good or bad. Thanks

I have a set of these on my mach. It's either them or BF Goodrich T/A's if your're in the market for a raised white letter tire. 14 & 15 inch tire availability is sketchy now that most modern cars take 16" and up. The Coopers seem to wear well, although I've had to re- balance them several times since they were new, and they've only got approx. 600 miles on them. They seem to be noisy on the highway as well, especially after the car has been sitting in one spot for a long period of time, which my car does a lot of. But, for the price and availability, I guess they're not so bad. GXR

I have the same noise issue with my present tires and have just chocked it up to sitting to long in one place. I've noticed that they got better as the tire warmed up though and after driving at highway speeds the noise would completely disappear. Maybe the same story with any modern tire, My mother's Buick has Goodyear's on it and they do the same thing (it sits most of the time too).

I had a full set of Cooper Cobra's and was not that impressed. The traction was lousy when compared to the Kelly's I had replaced and they just never got much better. they did wear good and smooth and lasted pretty good but as far as a performance tire, BFG's are much stickier. JTS 71 Mach1

Well the dealer gave me a 30 day no questions asked test drive on these cooper tires so after putting about a 100 miles on them I have to say I'm surprisingly happy. That said I always skeptical and plan on driving them a lot more before making my final decision. They seem smooth and quiet and even though they will never see the rain they seem to grip the dry pavement as well as any other tire I've owned.

You should have had that set of Kelly's, as they were pretty amazing for a street tire. Of course we all know Kelly's are made by GoodYear right??? Just a little tid bit for those who don't. JTS 71 Mach1

I did know that about Kelly. I tried to buy Kelly's for my car but they and Goodyear didn't offer tires to fit my needs. It really comes down to BF.Goodrich TA radial GT or Cooper Cobra. I went with the Coopers because there made in the USA. I try to buy American when ever possible.

My last purchase for our family truck were Cooper's for the same reason: Made in the USA.

It makes you feel good doesn't it?

A+ on the made in the USA. I had almost forgot Cooper is out of Ohio. Looks like Cooper would be a great choice. Thmbsup JTS 71 Mach1
