Bottoming out - jjorge - 06-20-2014

The frontend of my 73 has a problem. When I'm driving down the street and drive over a dip in the road (lots of concrete drainage dips in the roads here), it sounds like metal hitting metal. It has happened going over speed bumps too. The front end of the 73 is old and completely stock. And it looks pretty low. I dont think it is the tires hitting the fender, and its not the under carriage hitting the rood. It seems like the suspension is literally bottoming out. Has anyone else had this problem?
Would new springs and shocks cure this?
If I bought those lowering progressive springs would I still have that problem?

You may want to check the condition of your bump stops.

A quick look under the front end may show you some shiny metal which would be a tell-tale to the possible problem.
